A winged swarm at a porch light, a mud tube on a slab edge, or pellets under a door each point to a different species, and which species it is sets the treatment you’ll be quoted.
Swarm timing and treatment both vary by species. Flying termites at a light or window screen are usually a swarm, the reproductive stage that starts a new colony. Telling them from flying ants matters, because the right treatment depends on which species you have.
Eastern subterranean termites, and to a lesser extent the Formosan and Asian subterranean species, need soil contact and build the mud tubes you’ll see on foundations and slab edges. A pest control company typically treats them with a liquid soil barrier or a bait system placed around the structure. See subterranean termites and mud tubes.
West Indian and native drywood termites live inside the wood itself with no soil contact. Their calling card is dry, six-sided pellets pushed out of a small hole. A drywood infestation confined to one area can sometimes get a spot treatment. A widespread one is usually tented. See drywood termites in Florida.
Formosan and Asian subterranean termites draw the most attention because both are invasive and both can build larger colonies than the native Eastern subterranean termite. A February 2026 University of Florida study documents the Asian subterranean species in Brevard County on the southeast coast and Hillsborough County on the Gulf coast, flanking Orange County on both sides (UF News, February 2026). Orange County itself isn’t on that list. The same study projects that species across all of Florida’s southernmost counties by 2040, and it describes the Formosan termite as established in most of the state’s coastal counties and large urban centers statewide, with detection projected everywhere by 2050, but it doesn’t name Orange County for either species. Ask your inspector to identify the species rather than assume it from the county alone. See Formosan termite swarmers for how to tell one from the more common Eastern subterranean swarm.
We checked prices published by the Orlando-area companies we list on 28 Sep 2026, along with several others that rank locally for termite searches. Almost none publish a treatment price. Turner Pest Control and Truly Nolen both offer free termite inspections instead of a posted figure, and Imperial Pest Prevention, one of our Altamonte Springs listings, publishes a starting price for a WDO inspection:
| Company | Service | Published price | Checked |
|---|---|---|---|
| Imperial Pest Prevention (Altamonte Springs) | WDO inspection | Starting $50.00, no conditions stated for what raises it | 28 Sep 2026 |
| Turner Pest Control (Orlando) | Termite inspection | Free, “never any charge or obligation for quotes” | 28 Sep 2026 |
| Truly Nolen (Orlando) | Termite inspection | Free | 28 Sep 2026 |
None of the other Orlando-area companies we checked publish a treatment, tenting or bond-renewal price. A few third-party cost-guide sites publish dollar ranges for Orlando, but we’re leaving them off this page: one site’s own Tampa and Orlando pages give different numbers while each claims to be the locally accurate one, so its methodology can’t be trusted for either city. Ask each company for a written estimate after they’ve inspected your house, and compare at least two before you sign. What termite treatment actually costs has real published prices from other Florida and Texas companies, and termite tenting in Florida breaks down tenting costs specifically.
Before any termite company starts work or takes a payment from you, Florida law requires a written contract. It states which organisms are covered, with any exclusion for Formosan or other invasive species named on the first page. It sets the reinspection schedule. And it lists the maximum treatment price, the exact annual renewal fee and the maximum repair price, each on its own line rather than bundled together (Fla. Admin. Code r. 5E-14.105). If a company quotes a treatment “up to” a price, that figure only becomes binding once it’s written into the contract this way. The same rule requires an inspection within 30 days of your written notice and retreatment within 90 days for a single-family home. A termite bond is the ongoing service contract built on top of this, with its own list of what it covers and what voids it. Read it before you sign. See termite bond: what it covers.
If you’re buying or selling in Orlando, the termite-related report your lender or agent asks for is a wood-destroying organism (WDO) inspection. A general home inspector can’t sign one off; it has to come from a licensed pest control business, on the form FDACS prescribes. It covers wood-decaying fungi as well as termites and other wood-boring insects (Fla. Stat. 482.226). See WDO inspection in Florida and what is a WDO inspection for the full scope.
The companies above serve homeowners across Orange, Seminole, Osceola, Lake and Polk counties, based on the service areas those companies list for themselves. Our current listings are based in Orlando, Altamonte Springs, Winter Park, Casselberry and Longwood. People searching from Kissimmee and Sanford also reach this page, since both are inside the same service area. We don’t yet have a company listed with an address in either city, so ask any company above whether it covers your specific address before you book.
Companies above based outside Orlando itself, by the address on their listing:
These companies came from a search for termite and pest control companies in Orlando. Not every one does every job below, so ask before you book.
We matched each Orlando listing to the Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services (FDACS) register of pest control business licences, by phone number or street address with the business name as a check, using the export dated 11 Sep 2026. 21 of 30 listings matched a current licence and show its number on the card.
A card without a licence line means we could not tie it to one licence with confidence, not that the business is unlicensed. A matched licence shows the business is licensed for pest control in Florida; the export does not say whether that covers termite work. Look any number up yourself in the FDACS licence report.
Tell us what you need and we'll connect you with a licensed termite company serving Orlando. Or call any company above directly.
We review every request by hand. What happens to your request.
That isn't confirmed. The most recent UF/IFAS study documents the Asian subterranean termite in Brevard and Hillsborough counties, which flank Orange County on the coast and the Gulf side, and it doesn't list a confirmed find in Orange County itself. The same study projects the species across Florida's southernmost counties by 2040 and describes the Formosan subterranean termite as established in most of the state's coastal counties and large urban centers, with statewide detection projected by 2050 (UF/IFAS, Feb 2026). Ask your inspector to identify the species rather than assuming from the county alone.
Most Orlando-area companies we list don't publish a treatment price. Ask for a written estimate after an inspection, in the contract format Florida law requires.
Under Fla. Admin. Code r. 5E-14.105, you get the written contract before any work starts or you pay anything. It states which organisms are covered, the maximum treatment price, the exact annual renewal fee and the maximum repair price, each on its own line, plus the reinspection schedule.
Florida law doesn't require one for every sale; whether you need one depends on your purchase contract and lender. When one is done for a fee, the report has to be on FDACS's prescribed form and done by a licensed pest control business (Fla. Stat. 482.226). See WDO inspection in Florida.
Look the business up in the FDACS licence report by name or licence number. A match shows the business is licensed for pest control in Florida. The public export doesn't say whether that licence covers termite or fumigation work specifically, so ask the company directly.
Not as a home inspector. In Florida, each employee who performs WDO inspections must hold an FDACS identification card (section 482.091(9)), which is issued through a licensed pest control business.
We review your request by hand and connect you with a licensed termite company serving your area, which may then contact you about it.
No. Companies are sorted by how many Google reviews they have, which says how much feedback exists, not how good the work is. Listings are free and there is no way to pay for a higher position.
